Reworked Home is focused on salvaging your favorite furniture pieces from family heirlooms to modern favorites. When we’re not working on client commissions, we’re restoring furniture from our inventory of unwanted & discarded finds.

Reworked Home is a tiny business based in Chicago founded and operated by Alyssa Clark, with the support (and sometimes heavy lifting) of friends and family.

About Alyssa

Who me? I’m Alyssa. I’ve been a handy craftswoman for some time, always taking on random DIY projects since my first “adult” apartment. I’ve learned what I know from trial and error, watching family members, and from hired handymen who I ask to teach me while they work. Most of my efforts in furniture refinishing and DIY were for my own home or favors for friends until early 2021 when my husband and I purchased a single-family home. With my new and MOST prized asset—a garage—I let my tool collection double and my interest in furniture refinishing quadruple. Now I take landfill-bound pieces, thrift store finds, and commissions to dreamy refurbished pieces I hope you’ll one day find in your home (if you can prevent me from keeping them all for myself).

Currently, I sell pieces locally in Chicagoland but occasionally drop off pieces when I travel to friends and family in Milwaukee and Northern Indiana.

You can always DM me to ask your furniture and DIY questions. I create a lot of how-to content to help make this work more approachable to others just getting started.

Last but not least, a big part of my life is my battle with chronic pain caused by psoriatic arthritis and endometriosis. I want to help both build awareness and create hope that with modifications and patience, we all can have a hobby. Shout out to my husband for always helping me when the pain is just too much.

I want to help you love your space—from a bit of vintage decor to a rehabbed credenza. I curate and customize pieces that are new to you while reducing waste headed for a landfill.
